Home Page Basics of Playing Cajons: Techniques & More
Many cajon players want to expand their palette of sounds.
In addition to experimenting with the different playing surfaces on the cajon, they add a wide range of external effects, sounds & gadgets.
Although we do not sell cajon accessories per se, we have put together our own mini-hub, which lists products that are available from cajon & percussion manufacturers. Each section is linked to the main manufacturer web site where you will find full details of the various products.
Some of these effects are in our own percussive arsenal; others we have seen used to great effect. Care should be taken when attaching these as it is easy to intrude into the playing area on the tapa face.
The list is not exhaustive but provides you with a great starting point for customising your own sound.
This page will continue to grow as new cajon accessories & add-ons become available from different manufacturers.

they also make a wide range of cajon-specific accessories.
From jingle add-ons, to to finger accessories, from side-clicks played with
the heel to cajon pedals, from cabassa to castanet sounds, from sizzle boards to
shoe jingle attachments, from shaker glove to cajon brushes.
Innovative products limited only by our imagination. For further information see the Schlagwerk web site which also contains videos showing demonstrations of the various products.
Pearl, best known for their drum kits also manufacture cajons & a range of accessories.

Our Key
Advice: Whatever add-ons you use, remember that as a percussionist
you are there to make the rhythm feel good. It is always tempting to show your
latest accessories to the waiting world but we always recommend that you spend
time practising & becoming acquainted with everything that you play. Effects &
add-ons are a great addition to your playing & are limited pretty much only by
your imagination & skill.
